Congratulations! Whether you received offer of admission or still waiting, you've came so far!
What must you do to prepare for admission and enrollment?
Part 1 : Self Reflection
Celebrate your achievement and acknowledge the hard work that got you here. Take time to research your school thoroughly to ensure it aligns with your goals and values.
Start planning for your transition by preparing financially, academically, and socially for college life. Stay humble and express gratitude to those who supported you along the way.
Being waitlisted means you are still in consideration, so stay hopeful while preparing a backup plan. If allowed, submit a letter of continued interest to express your enthusiasm and update the school on any new achievements.
Accept an offer from another school by the deadline to secure your spot in case the waitlist doesn’t work out. Stay patient, but don’t let the uncertainty hold you back from getting excited about your future.
It’s okay to feel disappointed, but remember that this does not define your worth or future success. Reflect on what you can improve and explore alternative options such as other schools, or gap-year experiences.
Stay open to new opportunities—you may find a path that is an even better fit for you. Use this as motivation to grow, and trust that your journey is far from over.
Part 2 : Offer Decisions
The process of accepting admission and more!
After receiving your admission offer, you must accept or decline your admission by June 1 (for transfers). Submitting your SIR confirms your spot at the UC of your choice. It will be linked to your student portal that you had created with the UC. If you do not intend to admit to one of your options, please decline the offer! By doing so, it is able to get waitlisted students to get out of the waitlist quicker.
After being admitted to a UC, your acceptance is conditional, meaning you must meet certain requirements to keep your offer. Each UC campus will outline specific Conditions of Admission, which typically include maintaining your reported GPA, completing all in-progress coursework, and avoiding disciplinary issues. If you fail to meet these conditions, your admission could be rescinded.
If any changes occur after submitting your application—such as dropping a class, earning lower grades, or switching schools—you must submit an Update Form through your UC campus portal. It’s crucial to report these changes as soon as possible because failing to do so can put your admission at risk. Some UCs allow students to provide explanations for unexpected challenges, which may help them reconsider strict decisions.
If you’re waitlisted, start by carefully reviewing the university’s instructions to see if you need to opt in or submit additional materials. If allowed, consider writing a letter of continued interest to express enthusiasm and update the school on any new achievements. Since waitlist offers are not guaranteed, accept another school’s offer by the deadlineto ensure you have a solid backup plan. Keep your grades strong, as UCs may review final transcripts before making waitlist decisions. Finally, stay realistic and open to other opportunities, whether that means committing to a different school or considering transfer options in the future.
Part 3 : Enrollment Preparation
Below are some important things to prepare for the onboarding and enrollment process.
IGETC or Partial IGETC Certification
If you are completing IGETC, request certification from your community college’s admissions office and have it sent to your UC before the deadline.
Student ID Photo
As a transfer student, you may need to submit a student ID photo before arriving on campus. Each UC has different requirements, so check your student portal for specific instructions and deadlines.
Final Transcripts
Submit official transcripts from all colleges attended by July 1. If you took high school coursework to meet UC requirements (such as IGETC certification), submit those transcripts as well.
Health Insurance Waiver
UC students are automatically enrolled in UC SHIP (Student Health Insurance Plan). If you have private health insurance, submit a waiver request by the deadline to avoid charges
Vaccination & Health Requirements
UCs require proof of immunizations, including MMR, varicella, Tdap, meningococcal, and COVID-19 vaccines. Submit your records to the student health portal before the deadline. Gather documents of past vaccinations or create appointments to get immunizations on time. Consider CVS or your hospital of choice.
