A UC Berkeley ASCE Competition Team
Cal Sustainable Solutions is a decal affiliated with the UC Berkeley Civil and Environmental Engineering Department's competition teams.
Each year, our chapter competes in the ASCE Mid-Pacific Sustainable Solutions Competition, tackling unique and diverse challenges addressing sustainable products, engineered systems, and neighborhood-scale city planning.
Our members gain hands-on experience addressing sustainability challenges in the built environment through needs identification, design conceptualization, and technical analysis.
In recent years, our team at Cal Sustainable Solutions has been committed to designing in SketchUp, rendering with TwinMotion, and justifying the sustainability of our proposed project with the Envision accreditation system. Every project embodies our vision of an ideal city - resourceful, accessible, inclusive, resilient, and desirable.

New members are mentored by the returning team as they learn to use industry standard software for construction planning, 3D modelling, and sustainability calculations. This includes Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, Sketchup, EC3, Revit, HydroCAD, and Sefaira.
Cal Sustainable Solutions isn't just civil engineers, we welcome students of all majors who are interested in innovative solutions for the built environment. Presently, our team is made up of architects, environmental designers and scientists, electrical and mechanical engineers, and geographers. We take pride in fostering an inclusive and collaborative space dedicated to our initiatives, and if you share the same passion, we'd be delighted to have you join us.
