Hill Slough
Hill Slough
Hill Slough marsh is a restored tidal wetland, developed by Ducks Unlimited. The site is near Suisun City and is midway across the San Francisco Bay estuary, so its water is brackish. Hill Slough was a seasonal wetland, until the levee was breached in 2021. The site is being revegetated naturally. In this case it is a slow process due to the deep tidal oscillations each day and the brackish water.
We started measurements before the breach. In the dry state we have been able to close the surface energy balance well. Once the site was flooded, it became too difficult to measure the heat storage with the tidal fluctuation of the water.
