Berkeley Bilingual School Psychology Certificate Program
Certificate for Bilingual Practitioners
This virtual program is for credentialed school psychologists in California who are bilingual (Spanish/English) who are interested in developing the competencies required to more effectively meet the needs of Spanish speaking students and the systems that serve them. This program features a 3-week summer course intensive and year-long coaching with the teaching faculty to support the development of a cumulative program portfolio.
This program will:
Provide training for practicing school psychologists who are bilingual in English and Spanish with the goal of enhancing their ability to provide evidence-based services to multilingual learners whose heritage language is Spanish.
Introduce participants to contemporary research and enhance their ability to understand and adopt evidence-based educational and psychological practices in school settings.
Provide 3-weeks of on-line instruction (4 'courses' total, 90 possible hours of CEUs) in the Summer.
Coach participants virtually the following school-year to ensure that participants have on-going support as they implement and apply what they learned.
Support participants in completing a capstone portfolio of independent professional activities that will demonstrate competency in all areas of the bilingual school psychology.
May provide an optional, in-person Summer practicum experience that allows participants to apply what they learn by working directly with children under supervision of program faculty.
