Apple Glen Families-
I hope you and your family have had a great break filled with lots of joyous moments. Apple Glen teachers enjoyed their break and spent their day today preparing for the upcoming semester. As I reflect on the first semester, I am proud of the hard work and progress our students have made.
Just before break we had a school wide reading challenge. It went GREAT! We really saw an uptick in students reading. This month we are going to have an opportunity for students to "Chill out and Read!" Students can earn a coupon for a free ice cream from Braums. We want to continue to reinforce the importance of students reading consistently. We know this has a huge impact on a student's reading ability.
This month our students will take a state assessment called the Atlas Interim assessment. This test helps us to gauge the progress our students have made towards state standards we have already taught as well as their level of understanding on standards we have not taught yet. Every grade level will take this test. Please look for more information from your child's teacher regarding when the test will be given.
Teachers will be emailing student report cards by next Tuesday, Jan. 13. Please reach out to them directly if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Tracey Wood

All Bentonville Reads--Starting January 30th
All Bentonville Reads is a community-wide literacy initiative in Bentonville where all elementary schools read the same surprise chapter book. This is to be done at home to encourage reading.
Books and daily reading schedules will be sent home with students on Friday, January 30th.
Most nights, families are encouraged to read about 2 chapters, which should take about 10 minutes. At school, we will have daily trivia questions, special dress-up days, and a creativity contest. Be on the lookout at the end of the month for this SURPRISE book!
