Apple Glen Families-
We are looking forward to seeing you Thursday for Open House. Teachers have started making welcome phone calls to families. Please contact the front office Thursday morning if you have not received a call. If you miss the call, please check the voicemail as many teachers will leave a message.
When you come for Open House, please make a stop by the cafeteria and library. You can add funds to your child's lunch account in the cafeteria. You can also do this online at https://bentonville.familyportal.cloud/. Our Parent Teacher Organization as well as other community tables will be set up in the library.
School begins on Tuesday, August 12. The front doors open at 7:00am. Parents may walk students to class on the first day only. Beginning on Wednesday, students will need to enter the building on their own. Please know there will be plenty of Apple Glen staff members ready to support all students. We also ask that parents not join their child for lunch the first week of school. This allows us to teach routines and procedures in the cafeteria. Parents may join us for lunch beginning Monday, August 18th.
We are excited for kick off a great school year!

Your child’s safety is a top priority for the Bentonville School District and for the staff at Apple Glen Elementary. For that reason, all K-4 principals and district officials appreciate your cooperation in following the district’s transportation and safety procedures.
To ensure the safety of all children, we will send your child home the same way every day unless we are notified by you, prior to 2:00 p.m. We ask that you contact the office instead of your child’s teacher for changes so we can ensure the message is received. Sometimes teachers get busy and we wouldn’t want an email to get missed and a child be sent home the wrong way. If you have any questions regarding your child’s after-school dismissal status, please contact the school office at 479-254-5580. The office is open daily from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., if you need help or have any questions.
There are three modes of transportation: car riders, bus riders, and walkers. Here are a few helpful details for each.
Morning Car Riders
Drop off is in the front of the building through the car loop between 7:00-7:30 a.m. Students may enter the building starting at 7:00 a.m.
Our carline loops through Memorial Park. You cannot make a right or left hand turn from MLK Blvd on to Brave lane. Please access Memorial Park by going to Moberly lane and entering on that side.
At approximately 7:00 a.m., school officials will be on duty for the car riders. Once duty personnel are in place, students will be signaled to exit your vehicle.
Have students ready to exit the car (backpacks in their laps, kisses and hugs given, etc.) when your vehicle is in front of the building and you have passed the student drop off sign. Adults should not exit the vehicle in the car line.
Once in the building, students may sit in their designated hallway until 7:25 a.m. At 7:25 a.m., their classroom door will be opened and their teacher will greet them.
Breakfast will be available in the cafeteria from 7:00 a.m.- 7:25 a.m.
One final, but very important reminder: It is against the law to use your cell phone in a school zone. This includes our car-rider line. Thank you for being courteous in the car line and protecting all of our students.
Afternoon Car Riders
The afternoon bell rings at 2:30 p.m. All car riders will remain in their classroom until their number is displayed on the board in the classroom.
Make sure your car rider tag is hanging from your rearview mirror and your child’s number is clearly displayed on your rearview mirror and visible to school personnel. If your child attended Apple Glen last year, he/she will have the same number as last year.
All parents picking up students in a vehicle are asked to utilize the car rider line and remain in their cars to pick up their child. If your child needs help with a seat belt, please stay in your car and park in an empty spot after your child has loaded to help them.
If for any reason, the individual picking up your child does not have the school-issued car tag, they will need to be prepared to show photo identification. They must also be listed on the students emergency contact list in order to pick them up.
We would like to remind parents if your child is going to be a car rider, please be patient with us the first couple of weeks. The line will be long and can take up to an hour or longer to get through while we teach our students the dismissal routine.
Bus Riders
Please download the parent app BusQuest to see your child’s bus stop information. The app also allows you to sign up or remove your child from bus service at any time. To request new bus service or to see your bus route for this fall, download the BusQuest app and submit a request. Bus times may fluctuate between now and the start of school, so be sure to check your child’s route information prior to the start of school.
A bus tag will be attached to your child’s backpack. This needs to remain on his or her backpack throughout the course of the school year.
If you have a Kindergarten student who will ride the bus, please make sure an adult is available each day at the bus stop to receive your child. Kindergarten students must be picked up by an adult from the bus stop or they will be transported back to school.
Our bus service is highly recommended!
Walkers
We have 2 types of walkers. Students who use the “Walker Door” and “Washington Walkers.”
Washington Walkers will exit the door on the front of the building, near the gym. This is called the Adventure Club door. Students will be escorted across the parking lot to the area by Washington Jr. High. Students who walk to WJHS or the neighborhood on the West side of WJHS will walk this way.
Students who use the Walker door will walk out the doors on the East side of the building. This leads students to the playground. Parents park at Memorial Park or the Soccer fields to walk up and pick up their child. A school provided walker sign must be shown to pick up a student. Anyone without a walker sign will need to show a photo ID.
Thank you for your assistance and cooperation with all of our transportation and safety procedures.
As we begin the school year, we would ask that families create an account for your student's lunch account. You can add money as needed and setup to receive notifications when the account is low. If you already have an account, any money that was previously attached to your student's account will still be available for this year. If you need assistance, please apply for free or reduced lunch. This must be completed each school year regardless of past assistance. Please use the link below to create an account, add money to your student's account, or apply for benefits.
