All Bentonville Reads--Starting January 30th
All Bentonville Reads is a community-wide literacy initiative in Bentonville, Arkansas where everyone reads the same book.
All Bentonville elementary schools are challenged to read this year's surprise book as a family each night. Books and daily reading schedules will be sent home with students on Friday, January 30th.
Most nights families are encouraged to read about 2 chapters which should take about 10 minutes. At school we will have daily trivia questions, special dress up days, and a creativity contest.

Knight Owl
Summary-A determined Owl builds strength and confidence in this medieval picture book about the real mettle of a hero: wits, humor, and heart.
Kirkus
A young owl achieves his grand ambition.Owl , an adorably earnest and gallant little owlet, dreams of being a knight . He imagines himself defeating dragons and winning favor far and wide through his brave exploits. When a record number of knights go missing, Owl applies to Knight School and is surprisingly accepted. He is much smaller than the other knights -in-training, struggles to wield weapons, and has “a habit of nodding off during the day.” Nevertheless, he graduates and is assigned to the Knight Night Watch. While patrolling the castle walls one night, a hungry dragon shows up and Owl must use his wits to avoid meeting a terrible end. The result is both humorous and heartwarming, offering an affirmation of courage and clear thinking no matter one’s size…and demonstrating the power of a midnight snack.
Matt de la Pena
The Last Stop on Market Street
Summary-Every Sunday after church, CJ and his grandma ride the bus across town. But today, CJ wonders why they don't own a car like his friend Colby. Why doesn't he have an iPod like the boys on the bus? How come they always have to get off in the dirty part of town? Each question is met with an encouraging answer from grandma, who helps him see the beauty -- and fun -- in their routine and the world around them
Kirkus--Through de la Peña’s brilliant text, readers can hear, feel and taste the city: its grit and beauty, its quiet moments of connectedness. Robinson’s exceptional artwork works with it to ensure that readers will fully understand CJ’s journey toward appreciation of the vibrant, fascinating fabric of the city.
Kyle Lukoff
I'm Sorry You Got Mad
Summary-After he hurts his friend Zoe's feelings, Jack discovers there's more to an apology than just saying "I'm sorry," in this engaging exploration of how an apology goes deeper than just words.
School Library Journal
Smartly told, the sole text is that written on Jack's often crumpled letters. He continues to revise his apology, and his teacher provides feedback on how to try again. Jack eventually nails the apology—sincere, no excuses, seeking to make amends—and repairs his friendship with Zoe.
VERDICT Lukoff models good behavior for kids (and, let's face it, adults) without being lecturing or preachy. A must-have.—Chance Lee Joyner --Chance Lee Joyner
