Activites
Our chapter members compete in many contests outside of our chapter, here are a few examples...
National Convention
Every year we take our officer team and a few other involved members to National Convention. During this convention we listen to speakers, go around to booths, visit places outside the convention (this year we visited an Dairy Farm and a Bee Farm), and have the opportunity to shop at the FFA store. It is a great experience for any member that is able to go! This year was extra specail for our chapter because our chapter was awarded the 2-Star National Chapter award. In the picture above you can see our President Ella Grieder and Vice President Sophie Brecht accepted the award on stage.
State Convention
We also attended State Convention! Members have to opportunity to find something they are interested in to compete at State Convention. In Iowa, State Convention is held in Ames at the Hilton Stadium. This year we were able to tour the football field and learn how it is kept up, make meals for Meals of the Heartland, and do various activities at the convention.
District Convention
During this years District Convention...
Farm Business test - Denisyn Adams received a gold, Layne MecLeod recieved a bronze, and Parker Weeda also recieved a bronze
Chapter Program Presentation - Phillip Drahos, Lilly Fowler and Densiyn Adams recieved a bronze.
Ag radio Broadcasting - Sophie Brecht recieved a silver
Chapter Website - Kyla Shaull recieved a gold and will be moving onto state

3rd Grade Ag Day
Every year our 3rd graders visit the Benton County fairgrounds, in Vinton Iowa, to participate in 3rd Grade Ag day. They learn lessons about animals that are brought by local FFA members, and the equipment used on a farm. This year the Belle Plaine FFA chapter gave the students custom FFA "blue jacket" shirts to show that they are future members of the Belle Plaine FFA!
Greenhand Conference
We took our freshman, Intro to Agriculture class, to the Greenhand Fire Up conference, at Clear Creek Amana. During this, the new members were able to learn what FFA is about, and meet other members that are also in FFA.
Welding Contest
This year Mason Ward, Gavin Ward, Connor Peterson, and Braden Peterson all competed in the welding contest! They learned many different welds, what you use them for, and used what they knew to compete!
County Fair
A few members from the Belle Plaine FFA chapter took their animals to the county fair this year. In the picture above, you can see one of our members, Breanna Cook, barrel racing. We also have another member, Joe Randall that shows pigs.
Legislative Symposium
Each year, our officer team visits the Legislative Symposium Conference. During this they learn valuable lessons from speakers, tour the capital building, and meet with a legislative to hear their story and how they got to where they are today. Our officer team learned a lot, and are glad they went!
