Fire Sticks: Which one do you have?
This page is for a Fire Stick or Fire TV Cube that plugs into your TV's HDMI port.
Smart TVs with Fire TV built in are not supported. We can only help with a Fire Stick or Cube that plugs into the TV.
How to tell: a Fire Stick is a small stick. One end plugs into your TV's HDMI port. The other end has a USB power cable. It has its own remote.
Unbox it, plug it into your TV's HDMI port, and connect the power cable. Follow the prompts on your TV to connect to your home Wi-Fi and sign in with your Amazon account.
Stuck on Part 1? Amazon looks after its own hardware. Call Amazon Support at 1-877-345-3364.
This part can be confusing for some people. We can't see your TV, so we can't guide you through it. Here are some tips to help you get through it.
Find the HDMI ports on your TV. They are on the side or the back. There may be more than one. Some are numbered.
Plug your stick or box into one. Write down the number of the port you used.
Look at your TV remote. Find the button called Source or Input. This button lets you switch between things plugged into your TV, like a streaming device, a Blu-ray player or a game console. Write down the name of the button.
Power the streaming device with its own power cable. Plug it into a wall outlet. A streaming device is a stick or box with its own remote. Some people call it a dongle.
Tight spot behind the TV? Use a power bar to bring the outlet closer. Or use an HDMI extender cable, so you can reach the stick without taking the TV apart.
Turn on the TV and the streaming device. Press Source or Input until you see the streaming device on your screen.
Smart TV? The inputs can be more confusing. If your TV lets you rename the input, call it "Streaming device". Then write down the name.
Ask a friend to come help you. It can be fun to work this puzzle out together.
There are two apps. Which one is right depends on your Fire Stick.
OTT PRO is for older Fire Sticks:
Fire Stick Lite, Fire Stick HD, and Fire Stick 4K with 8 GB of storage.
It is the light version. It runs well on slower sticks. It does not have downloads for VOD (movies and shows to watch later).
Splash Player is for newer, faster devices:
Fire Stick 4K Max and Fire TV Cube, with 16 GB of storage.
It is built for faster processors, and it can download VOD.
This is a guide, not a hard rule. If you pick the wrong one, don't worry. We will guide you and help you fix it. We just want you to start with the right one if you can.
There are two ways to find out.
Way 1: Look in Settings.
Go to Settings (the gear icon).
Select My Fire TV.
Select About.
Read your device name and your storage.
Way 2: Use the "Informer" app.
On your Fire TV, open the Amazon app store and search for "Informer".
Install Informer. It works on all Amazon Fire TV devices.
Open it. It shows your device information.
Still not sure? Take a photo of the screen with your phone and send it to us by email. We will tell you which app is yours.
Then choose your app:
