"When In Our Music God Is Glorified!"
Music plays a very important part of the worship experience at First Presbyterian in Bedford. Mary Hardesty, our director of music, conducts the Chancel Choir. She does a wonderful job picking out beautiful and insightful anthems supporting the current lectionary reading. The Chancel Choir rehearses at 9:00 a.m. Sunday mornings during the school year. Anyone interested in singing is welcome to join (especially altos!).
Our church is so blessed to have a three octave set of Schulmerich handbells. Mike Alexander is the director of this all volunteer group. We rehearse at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evenings during the school year. The group performs in worship five or six times during the litergical year including Christmas Eve and Easter. We have also performed at the Community Thanksgiving Service for the past several years. If you would like to ring, please join us. Musical experience is helpful, but if you have none, we will train you.
During the summer months we are blessed with the musical talents of several members of our congregation. We have vocal solos, small ensembles, instrumental ensembles, even guitar and dulcimer.
"Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs."
