Parents should notify the House Staff in advance should they wish to visit the House (other than at the beginning and ends of each term). Parents will be asked to sign in and out in the visitors' book provided. Please be aware that Stud has bedrooms off a central atrium. Parents are requested not to go to bedrooms without notifying staff members first.
The house has two alarms; the intruder alarm is set every evening and unset in the morning. Entry to the house between these times will set the alarm off. The fire alarm is linked to the windows in the atrium so that, in the event of a fire, the smoke does not accumulate in the house.
We do regular fire drills and the boys should assume that any fire alarm that they hear is real!
The safety of your son is extremely important to us and I would draw your attention to the School’s Safeguarding Policy which can be found on the School’s website.
It is a requirement that all students must sign out from the House and sign in at their destination, then upon their return they are required to enter the time of their return. This enables House staff to know who is out in the event of an emergency. Students are also required to sign out from the House when leaving the school grounds.
If you are feeling unwell during the day, please go and see the House Matron. She will be able to assess you initially, administer suitable medicines and/or make arrangements to see the School Nurse for further treatment or a referral to the School Doctor. If you are unable to find the Matron, all Residential House Staff are trained to administer first aid and dispense medicines. If you are feeling unwell during the night, contact the duty member of staff who will be able to help you.
The House matrons can also arrange for you to see a dentist, optician and physiotherapist if it is required during term time.
Please note: You should never keep medicines in your room; they must be handed in to the House matron; all medicines must be stored securely and only administered by trained staff.
