Horseback Riders
By: Sophia
Mr.Montague's 4th Grade Class
Swoosh, my leg swung around the horse's back. I did my best to wear a smile on my face. " You did it!" my teacher said with excitement. " I did it, I DID IT!" I said a bit loudly with glee." I rode a horse without freaking out!" You see, I always had trouble getting on or hesitating to get on a horse. On that day, I accomplished my fear of getting on a horse. I always tried to get on a horse, and on that day, it all paid off.
The Tooth
By: Akshara
In Ms. Oosterhof's Fourth Grade Class
I was in the airport. It was a sunny morning, so you'd expect everything to be normal, right? It was way too normal today, so there was something bound to go wrong, right I was absolutely right. At about 10:00 in the morning, I started feeling hungry. I didn't even have breakfast. So I went to a bakery and ordered some bread.Then...CRACK!Something was in my mouth. It was my tooth. But it broke in half. I started to panic. I didn't know what to do. It hurt so much. Then my dad looked at it. "Oh no. It's an adult tooth. Just try to control the pain." So I tried. Then my dad looked at it again . "Wait. It's only a baby tooth. You controlled the pain, and it all payed off."
All of us have to go through things, and if you persevere, many great things will happen in life. Sophia and Akshara both persevered through a few tough things, never give up on a thing you are working hard for!

Capella, 2nd grade Mrs. Brous
I’m 7 years old and this is my story of riding my bike without training wheels for the first time. I got on my bike, scared for my life. My sister, Ava, was there supporting me. We started off on the grass and my sister started pushing me. I started pedaling and I was feeling confident but then my sister let go and I started to feel worried. Then, I tipped over. I was scared and sad because I felt like I was going to fall on the concrete, but I got up and tried again. On my second try, my sister decided to go inside and I rode on the bike myself. This time, I felt more confident to try again and eventually, I got the hang of it. Finally, I decided it was time to ride on the concrete roads. I didn’t fall at all either! I saw my dad and smiled even more then I got off my bike and went back inside to eat my celebratory mac and cheese!
Sena, Mrs.Brous - 2nd grade- Perseverance- Double Marathoner!
It was a hot, sunny day and I was exhausted. It felt like I was on this lap forever. I was on my fifth lap and it was burning. Little did I know I had 5 more laps to go. I was striving for my 2nd marathon. I was so close I could almost taste it. That ribbon across the track. Running through and breaking it in half. I just had to do 5 more laps. I ran through to the adults. 6! I need 4 more marks. I ran so fast that I felt like a cheetah! Another lap done! Almost there! Just a few more! Another lap! 2 more. There we go 1 more. Final lap! The sun was burning me! Halfway there! So close! Just turn here! I could see them pulling out the ribbon! I ran through. Rip! Got my double marathon! I was so proud and I greatly persevered that day.
Rohit 2nd Grade Mrs.Brous
I Showed perseverance by getting my marathon in kindergarten. I felt I would never get it but one day in the running club I achieved that goal. I felt very proud of myself when I got it. I thought I wasn’t going to make it but I persevered and got it. I ran a lot to prepare for that moment. I tried to be like my brother who was also in the running club before me.
Easton 2nd Grade Mrs.Brous
There were trees, bushes, plants, birds, and people at the skatepark. When I was at the skatepark, I fell down on the ramp. After a little while, I got the hang of the ramp. I persevered when I went down the ramp and fell. I kept getting back up until I got it. I think perseverance is important.
Hruday , Mrs.Brous 2nd grade
It was finally the day that I can ride my bike in second grade. First I was excited, than I thought, what if I fall off. Then I tried to ride my bike without training wheels, I was so scared that when I put my legs on the pedals and I fell. After falling the first time I tried over and over again, then I knew how to ride my bike. All of a sudden, I felt brave! The moral of the story was to keep trying and to be brave.
