The role of the Mentee
To serve as the classroom teacher
Act in accordance to the BSD Code of Professional Conduct and fulfill all required responsibilities.
Mentee responsibilities
Instructional responsibilities Â
Establish a safe and inclusive classroom community.
Will implement equitable practices in line with Beaverton School District mission, vision and values.
Access provided instructional resources and tools.
Plan, implement and assess student learning aligned with National, State and District content standards.
Complete required documentation and paperwork connected with your position (IEPs, Progress Reports, TAG Forms, etc.)
Communicate with families in accordance with school practices and policies.
Utilize the District evaluation tools to set goals and create action plans.
Participate in Mentorship - Letter of Commitment
Interact with Mentor on a weekly basis.
Engage in collaborative and reflective discussions with Mentor to build on strengths and identify future opportunities for growth.
Seek support from Mentor regarding challenges and new learning throughout the year.
Observe experienced teachers with the guidance and support of the Mentor.
Professional Development
Attend BSD New Staff Academy (NSA) (if assigned to role prior to the beginning of NSA).
Attend Professional Learning opportunities provided by the BSD Mentor Program.
Participate in Building Directed and District Supported Professional Development opportunities throughout the school year.
