Coy Band Handbook - Due to the nature of a band class, there is a fair amount of information that is unique to our class as opposed to a normal math or reading class. Please take a moment to review our band handbook to ensure you and your child understand our policies, procedures, etc.
6TH GRADE Handbook Signature Form - On the first day of school, your student will receive a copy of this form. Please review the packet then login to ParentSquare to "sign it" by FRIDAY, AUGUST 29TH - This counts as their first grade and should be an easy A :-) There is no paper submission of this form.
7TH & 8TH GRADE Handbook Signature Form - On the first day of school, your student will receive a copy of this form. Please review the packet then login to ParentSquare to "sign it" by FRIDAY, AUGUST 29TH - This counts as their first grade and should be an easy A :-) There is no paper submission of this form.
Practice charts are a weekly grade for 6th and 7th grade students. It is a communication tool we use to ensure parents, student, and teacher all know how much a student is practicing. If a student starts to struggle on their instrument, their practice chart is one of the things we can look at for information to help them.
Practice charts are submitted EVERY Thursday in PARENTSQUARE. They MUST be completed and signed by a parent to receive credit.
Students have a paper chart to help keep track of their minutes throughout the week. On Wednesday, parents will receive a notice that the practice chart needs signed in ParentSquare. You child should bring you the paper chart and together you should fill out the practice chart in ParentSquare.
Practice charts must be submitted in ParentSquare by 11:59 PM on Thursdays. The submission portal closes at that time and no late charts are accepted. Since these charts serve as a communication tool, it is important that we get one each week so we do not accept them late.
Practice charts serve primarily as a communication tool between the parent, student, and teacher. Because of this, students receive credit as long as their practice chart is submitted in ParentSquare by 11:59 PM. It does not matter how many minutes are recorded. That being said, students who do not practice may find that our SmartMusic assignments (which are graded for accuracy) are difficult or challenging.
If your student has lost his or her chart, you can download a new one or make one by hand. Remember though, it always gets signed in ParentSquare
Below is a list of important dates for the school year. Required events are indicated with an asterisk (*). Per the band handbook, concerts/performances are a REQUIRED part of a student's grade in band and attendance is required. Please add these dates to your calendar now so you can avoid schedule conflicts.
There are a few events that are optional (e.g. rental meetings, solo and ensemble) although students are highly encouraged to participate. Additionally, this calendar does not include events for extra-curricular ensembles such as jazz band or percussion ensemble but they will be added as we schedule them.
