Have a look at it with your grown up to get ideas then write some sentences.
Tell us why you think trees are very useful, you could also draw a picture too.
When you go out for your walk, take some pieces of paper and a pencil or crayons.
Make bark rubbings from different types of trees, the attached video shows you how.
How do the rubbings from different trees compare?
What does the bark feel like?
When you get home again, cut tree trunk shapes out from your bark rubbings, stick them onto another piece of paper and draw green leaves on top of the trunks to make a picture of a forest.

This week for your English you need to watch and listen to the wonderful story, βLook Upβ.
Remember to always ask your grown-up if there are any words that you donβt understand. You can then look them up together to find out what they mean!
Once you have watched the story you can then talk to your grown-up about the main character, Rocket.
What do you like about her?
Her brother says she has fiery breath, do you think she really does?
What else has fiery breath?
Why is her brother cross with her in the supermarket?

This week we are starting a special new topic which is called fractions.
You will learn about fractions all the way until you go to secondary school and this is just a beginning.
Click on the attached link and their is an excellent BBC Bitesize lesson that will introduce what fractions are and some key vocabulary around them.
On this link there is a video explaining what they are and four different tasks that you can try.
This second lesson also looks at fractions and the idea of what is a half and how we can recognise it.
Again the link walks you very slowly and carefully through what a half is and how you can half objects and groups of objects.
There are some fun activities that you will want to make sure that you do with an adult.
When you are out for a walk, see how many different leaves you can find. Which trees do they come from?
Can you find out and make a list?
You could also draw your leaves to illustrate your list.
We've given you two links, one for a leaf identification app, and one for an identification sheet that you could print off.

The video explains how a family tree works and we've attached a tree picture with boxes if you'd like to fill that in. Or you could just draw and label your own tree.
If you have photos of your family you could stick them on too!

Everybody is important, and has the right to be safe and happy even if they are different. There are many differences between people; one difference is the colour of our skin. Racism is when you treat someone differently and unfairly because they have different coloured skin or they are from a different country or their culture is different.

When she was growing up she experienced racism and became an anti-racist campaigner to help other people.
What things was Maya told she couldn't do?
Do you think Maya was brave?
How do you know this?
Maya said it was important to always have hope. Talk to your grown up about hope then make a poster to show us what you are hoping for.
Yoga is good exercise and helps us to feel calm too. Which of these videos will you choose?
I this task you are going to have a chance to explore different 2D shapes and how they fit together. For this task, you'll need some blocks of different shapes and colours, or you could print off and cut out the shapes on this sheet.
Choose a rule, like 'only have four-sided shapes' or 'only have large shapes'.
Challenge someone else at home to work out your rule.
They can do this by choosing a shape for you to say either "Yes, that obeys my rule and is in my set" (you then put it over on the left) or "No, this does not obey my rule and so is not in my set" (you then put it over on the right).
How did they decide which shapes to choose?
Did they get quicker at finding out the rule?
What was the smallest number of shapes they needed to try?
Could you make some more shapes to add to the set? What would you make and why?
Tell us about some of the rules you chose and how you decided which shapes to try.
Listen to the song in the link and see if you can join in on a second listen. Then have a look with an adult for how many different 3D shapes you can find around your house and try to name them. You can take a picture of some that you have found and send them into the Year 1 e-mail address.
Have a look at the Tate website to find out how the artist Matisse makes his paper cut-out collages, then make your own paper collage using the shapes from your maths activities. The Tate website has lots of instructions to help. Can you make a collage using just squares, or just circles? You'll need to cut out your pieces of paper paper carefully. Matisse made a cut-out paper snail. What is your collage a picture of?
