SENIOR YEAR REFLECTIONS
HISTORY !
Communicate Ideas: Demonstrates an understanding of a specific audience by communicating and collaborating using verbal and non-verbal behavior, languages, and strategies that are appropriate to the specific audience.
For the first semester of Senior year I took CCP Government and Politics with Mr. Amedo as my teacher. This class had a very stable and consistent structure to it with every week following the same dynamic, as most CCP classes have. For the semester final each student had to either create or find a current federal US law that needed adjustment. This project started out as a struggle for myself because I could not think of a federal US law that needed adjustment. I eventually was able to find one once I communicated my ideas with Mr. Amedo and allowed him to help.
My CCP government final paper related to the ISSN domain of “Communicate Ideas” because I had to think of certain criteria (federal law), how I wanted to fix the law, and how I was going to effectively communicate this change of law and what my goal was with the change to my class and Mr. Amedo.
ENGLISH !
Recognize Perspectives: Expresses a clear personal perspective on a situation, event, issue, or phenomenon, identifying an influence on that perspective.
Senior year I was given the opportunity to take CCP effective speaking to be given the chance to further my speaking and presentation skills. During this semester I have written and presented three different speeches, all with different requirements, goals, and topics. I have presented an informational, persuasion, and process speech. My favorite and most unique speech has been my informative speech about the life of Emily Bronte. One of my favorite books is Emily Brontes, Wuthering Heights, so it was interesting to be able to research and combine school with my interests, similar to what JAGS capstone does all year.
The topic and goal of this informative speech was to find an influential historical character that is not well-known, but people should know about. That prompt allowed me to look into different perspectives about not only Emily Bronte lifes but how she was viewed. This speech aligned closely with the ISSN domain of “Recognize Perspectives” by encouraging me to look into different historical figures and their obstacles and stories.
