Year 2 have demonstrated fantastic focus and enthusiasm throughout another successful week of learning. In English, the children have been retelling the story The Great Explorer. They truly impressed us with their stamina for writing throughout the week, producing extended pieces of work filled with imaginative ideas. The children thought carefully about how to enhance their narratives, adding detail and creativity to make their stories even better than the original text.
In maths, we have continued our learning about arrays before moving on to multiplying and dividing by 2. The children used practical resources and visual representations to deepen their understanding and build confidence.
Science lessons focused on materials, where the children made predictions about whether different materials were absorbent before testing them. This encouraged curiosity, careful observation and scientific thinking.
In history, we began learning about Cobtree Manor Park, discovering that it was once a zoo and learning about its famous royal visitor. This sparked great interest and thoughtful discussion.
In PE, the children developed their dodging skills through team games and explored different types of jumping, combining these into a sequence. It has been wonderful to see such effort, enjoyment and progress throughout the week.
Well done on an excellent week Year 2, keep it up!
