What a wonderful (and very rainy!) week we’ve had in Year 1. Despite the weather, the children have shown fantastic enthusiasm and resilience in all their learning.
As part of our inquiry topic, the children have been learning about our global community. We have explored the 7 continents and hopped on a virtual plane to Kenya and Korea, where we looked at how communities around the world can be both different and unique. The children loved comparing daily life, homes, clothes, food and traditions.
In Maths, we have finished our unit on place value to 20. The children have been finding missing numbers on number lines, comparing numbers using <, > and =, and developing a strong understanding of tens and ones. Their confidence has grown so much!
In English, we have been learning about plurals and using the suffixes -ing and -ed. The children have absolutely blown us away with their free writing, proudly showing off their skills with conjunctions, adjectives, full stops, finger spaces, sentence structure, and spellings.
We are incredibly proud of the children and the progress they have made since September. Thank you for your continued support. Have a great weekend, and we look forward to seeing you all next week!
