It has been another great week of discovery in Reception! In our Inquiry sessions, the children further explored the world of patterns, taking inspiration from these artists:
Bridget Riley: Exploring bold, geometric optical illusions.
William Morris: Looking at intricate, nature-inspired designs.
Andy Goldsworthy: Discovering how patterns appear in the natural world.
The children loved getting creative and producing their own unique artwork based on these famous styles.
We have introduced two new phonemes this week: 'y' and 'v'. We have also been practicing our latest "tricky word," 'be'. It is wonderful to see the children’s confidence growing as they use their phonetic knowledge to decode and read new words independently!
Meanwhile, in Maths, we dove into the concepts of mass and balance. After reading Pamela Allen’s ‘Who Sank the Boat?’, the children became mini-engineers, crafting their own junk-modelling boats and putting them to the ultimate test on the water to see which designs could stay afloat!
