THE FORGEMASTER, THE BLACKSMITH OF OLYMPUS
THE FORGEMASTER, THE BLACKSMITH OF OLYMPUS
Fisk had always worked with his hands; he was born with quite large ones at that. They made good fists and could easily hold swords, blades, and guns if he thought it necessary, but he would much rather use them to build. Fisk’s mother and father were both craftsmen who worked in the family blacksmithery; however, his mother did much more of the forging than his father. Fisk’s father lost three fingers on his left hand and much of the muscle in his arms, which made him resort to other forms of tinkering, often involving complex machinery such as pocket watches.
Fisk learned both the skills of the forge and mechanics from childhood, but it was his time in the forge that sealed his fate. One day, after spending much time over the hot coals, he realised he no longer felt the heat on his skin. Before he could understand exactly what had happened to him, he exploded. The blast from his hands destroyed the forge, and the family home, and killed his already weak father. His mother returned from the market to find an empty ruin and a note from her son, which was both an apology and a goodbye. Fisk ran into the rebellion amidst his troubles, hoping that his skills to create could help save lives and, in doing so, redeem him for the destruction he had caused back home.
Fisk's energy manipulation allows him to absorb physical and thermal energy, transforming pain into power. This ability gives him a unique resilience in battle; he can withstand blows that would incapacitate others, storing that energy to unleash it in a spectacular display. His talent in forging allowed him to create enchanted weapons for the rebellion, though he eventually turned his skills toward creating technology to aid the wounded.
Fisk left the tumult of Olympus behind before Zeus’s death, seeking a quiet life after becoming pregnant. Refusing to raise their child on the battlefield, they settled in a small town, where they vowed to raise their child away from the war. Despite their desire for solitude, the call of the rebellion echoed in their heart. Over time, they began to assist the post-war efforts, not by crafting weapons but by designing tools and machines that empowered the witchbreed to live more comfortably. Their workshop became a haven for innovation, and Fisk found fulfilment in guiding others toward a safer future.
Excerpt from the last letter Fisk sent back to Olympus
"I’m writing with good news. My daughter, Cabeiro, was born healthy and strong. She’s a beauty, and already loves the warmth of the forge, just like her father. But with this new life, I’m making another decision—I won’t be in contact with Olympus again. I’m a father now, and I won’t raise a child while at war. Thank you for everything, but this is where I draw my line now."
