Positive Behavior Intervention & Support (PBIS)
CGMS PBIS School Matrix 2025-2026
PBIS is a statewide and district-wide initiative to teach all students’ behavioral expectations in a positive way. Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) is a decision making framework that guides selection, integration, and implementation of the best evidenced based academic and behavioral practices for improving important academic and behavioral outcomes for all students.
PBIS helps parents and school staff create and maintain a safe, supportive learning environment, promote positive life skills, and reduce negative behaviors so that all children can succeed in school. The framework addresses both individual behavior and environmental factors and focuses on skill building rather than punishment. PBIS addresses bullying prevention, social skills development, resilience, and discipline.
Our PBIS matrix is based on five common CGMS rules:
Respect yourself by working hard.
Respect others.
Be on time, seated, and ready to learn by the tardy bell/signal.
Raise your hand to seek permission to speak or get out of your seat.
No food or drink is allowed in the classroom (except for water).
