ATTENDANCE POLICY
Regular attendance by every student is mandatory: the State of North Carolina requires that every child in the State between the ages of seven (or younger if enrolled) and 16 years attend school. Parents or legal guardians have the responsibility for ensuring that students attend and remain at school daily.
Students in grades 6-12 are required to be counted “present” for at least half the regular instructional day in order to participate in athletics or other extracurricular activities on that particular day.

School Attendance Committee
Each classroom teacher is responsible for monitoring student attendance, along with the student counselor and the school data manager. On the 3rd, 6th, and 10th unexcused absence the student counselor, data manager, or social worker will make contact with the parent or guardian of those students who are at risk of truancy. After the 10th unexcused absence, a member of the attendance committee will set up a parent meeting with administration.
