Instrument Specific Materials

The following list contains items that will greatly benefit your students. CGMS is limited on supplies available to loan for instruments so students who have these materials are able to clean, maintain, and practice effectively on their instruments. Many of these items are a one-time purchase too, lasting throughout all 3 years of middle school band!

Flute: Cleaning Cloth, Cleaning Rod

*Van Doren Reeds are the best quality reeds for woodwinds. Other reeds are notoriously difficult to play on and do not produce a good sound quality. If properly taken care of, 3 reeds should last a student 1-2 months.

**Purchasing one of the Mallet Packs will cover all of the percussion sticks your student will need in middle school and will last through high school. The bell kit provides your student the ability to practice at home since they cannot carry their school instruments home.
