Welcome Back!

I am very excited to welcome returning band students to 8th Grade Advanced Band. The third year of middle school band is an exciting one, full of performance opportunities and advanced music studies. Students will read challenging literature, learn new playing styles and techniques, and participate in concert festivals and adjudication events. 8th Grade band students set the standard for the program, capitalizing on all of the skills and knowledge acquired over the previous two years of instruction. It is during this third year that students bridge the gap between middle and high school band participation, applying all that they have learned to truly experience the music itself.

8th Grade Recommended Materials

• Instrument + Accessories

• 3 Ring Binder or Folder

• Pencil

• Notebook Paper

• Optional - Music Lyre for 8th Grade Night at HS Football Game (this is also useful if student plans to join marching band in 9th Grade) - Specific to each instrument

• Optional - Personal Tuner/Metronome
