Uniforms

Class A (Male)

Class A (Female)

Class B

Army Camouflage Uniform

General:

Cadets will wear the Army Cadet issued uniform once every week. Wednesday is normally the uniform inspection day, with the exception of wearing the Battalion Spirit uniform on Friday of home football games, and on other designated occasions.   We typically alternate between the Class A/B uniform one week and the Battalion Spirit Uniform the following week. All cadets must be in the designated uniform on the designated day, unless otherwise notified, and are expected to wear the uniform for the entire school day. All grooming standards and general uniform procedures apply to both the Class A/B and spirit uniforms.

Additionally, an appropriate PT uniform (shorts/ sweatpants, Battalion T-Shirt/sweatshirt, white socks, and athletic/running shoes) must be worn on designated PT days (usually Friday).

The Cadet is responsible for the care and maintenance of his or her uniform and other issued equipment. In addition, he/she will be required to have the uniform professionally dry cleaned periodically throughout the school year. Items outgrown or unserviceable due to fair wear and tear will be replaced free of charge.  Lost or damaged equipment must be compensated as any other school property (See "Fees" Below).

Make-Ups: Cadets absent on a uniform day will wear the uniform the first day they return from being absent! (Cadets will be inspected on the first day back without any grade penalty). If a cadet is present on the designated uniform day and fails to wear the uniform, they will receive a zero (0) for their uniform grade that week. If a cadet is absent on uniform day and fails to wear their uniform on the first day they return, they will receive a zero (0) for their uniform grade that week.

Refusals: Cadets who fail to wear the uniform on two (2) uniform days in a nine-week grading period (or three for an entire semester) will be reduced one rank. Additionally, failure to wear the uniform three times in a given semester will result in notification of school administration (for failure to participate/take a test) and parental notification concerning potential failure in JROTC. It may also prevent promotion in cadet rank, eligibility for cadet awards, participation in cadet extracurricular activities, and future enrollment in JROTC. Inclement Weather: If school is closed on a designated uniform day due to snow or other inclement weather, the first day back will be the uniform day. If Thursday and Friday are cancelled, there will be no uniform inspection grade for that week.

Grooming Standards

Hair Styles: Many hairstyles are acceptable, as long as they are neat and conservative. Hair will be neatly groomed. Hair that is clipped closely or shaved to the scalp is authorized. The length and bulk of hair will not be excessive or present a ragged or extreme appearance. If dyes, tints, or bleaches are used, colors used must be natural to human hair and not present an extreme appearance. Hairstyles will not interfere will proper wearing of military headgear. The headgear when worn in uniform will not appear bulging or distorted, and without excessive gaps between the headgear and the head. There is no minimum hair length for Cadets, and Cadets are permitted to have natural highlight. Hair that falls over the eyebrows or ears will be pulled back. Hair holding ornaments (barrettes, pins, clips, headbands), if used, must be transparent or similar in color to hair, and will be inconspicuously placed. Headbands should not be wider than 1 ½ inches. Cadets are permitted to wear a ponytail, two braids, or one singular braid in all uniforms. Cadets are authorized to wear multiple neat-in- appearance hairstyles at once. Colors that detract from a professional uniform appearance are prohibited.

Facial hair: Sideburns will be neatly trimmed. Sideburns will not extend below the lowest part of the exterior ear opening. The face will be clean-shaven, except for permitted mustaches.

Fingernails: All Cadets will keep fingernails clean and neatly trimmed. Female Cadets are permitted to wear any color fingernail polish as long as they match in type and style and do not extend more than ½ inch for acrylic nails from the tip of the finger.

Participation and Replacement Fees

Over the course of the school year, cadets will have the opportunity to participate in many events both on and off school campus. For most off-site events, transportation and most participation costs are covered by our cadet fund.

Every cadet is encouraged to participate in organized battalion fundraising to raise funds for the cadet battalion fund. All of the profits go towards cadet activities and equipment. Cadets can also receive awards and other incentives for participating in additional fundraising for the battalion's general fund. None of this fundraising is mandatory.

In AC Reynolds High School JROTC, the equipment and uniforms issued to the cadets is provided at no cost when cadets enter the program.  Items can be turned in and replaced free of charge when outgrown.  If it is determined that a cadet loses or damages a piece of equipment or their uniform, payment to replace the damaged item will be necessary. Below is a list of equipment and uniforms cost.
