The ACCE internship program is a robust college and career -readiness program that allows students to gain experience in a field of interest. The internship program is currently offered to seniors who are on track to graduate on time.
ACCE is a college and career exploration school that seeks to provide students with opportunities to help build their college and/or career preparation. We strive to have our high schoolers have as many college and career interactions as possible so they can have a meaningful experience and really know what’s next for them in life beyond high school. Our students are well- rounded, energetic, and engaged in the community. They are interested in social justice, public policy, law, public health, sports, and medicine. We look forward to working with the community to find meaningful placements for our wonderful kids.
The internship program places each student in a different field placement in Baltimore City. Students can be placed in paid internships with Urban Alliance and unpaid internships around the Hamden community. Our internship program seeks to place high school seniors with local businesses that are of interest to them. The goal is that in these placements students are able to observe and explore different career opportunities while making connections and adding to their skillset. Before students begin their internships, they are engaged in career-readiness lessons that focus on interviewing, resume writing, career exploration, and more! This "prework" will help support our students to have a strong start! We offer a one day a week model, or they can attend every day from 2:00pm to 3:00 pm. Students participating in the Internship Program are enrolled in a Work Study class.
