A student's grade point average is one of the most important aspects of high school. A grade point average is calculated by adding up all accumulated final grades and dividing that figure by the number of grades awarded. Students start earning their GPA the minute they finish a high school-level course.
A student's GPA in their 9th grade year is sometimes "make or break". A student who earns As and Bs will have a higher GPA than someone who earns Ds and Fs. It is difficult (but not impossible) to increase one's GPA after the 9th grade year. Click here to read more!
Below is BCPSS's GPA scale.

If a student fails a graduation requirement course, they will have to remediate the course. There are a few ways they can remediate courses. ACCE will usually have one or two after-school credit recovery sessions each year. Information about credit recovery will be shared via daily announcements, social media, and the ACCE website. Credit Recovery can be expensive, so it's in a student's best interest to pass the class the first time.
