How to sew a Bluff Patch Pocket with 2 sewing methods
How to sew a Bluff Patch Pocket with 2 sewing methods
A bluff pocket is a patch pocket that is sewn without any topstitching, and it can be a tricky one to perfect.
This video shows two methods of a bluff pocket construction.
The first method uses a temporary 'baste' stitch to hold the pocket in place, this is then removed when the pocket is sewn from the inside.
The second is done in a more traditional way, without the baste stitch, but using markings (tailor tacks) on the pocket and the garment to ensure the pocket is in the correct postion when sewn. In their example a polyester fabric is used, that would otherwise mark or leave needle holes if done in method 1 with the baste stitch.
