Overview
My goal is to support the academic, social, and emotional well-being of every student, helping them succeed in both in and out of the classroom. This website is designed as a resource for students, parents and teachers to stay up to date with what is going on. Throughout the year, I will be adding more resources to this site and keep families in the loop! It is important to stay connected with the counseling services and programs available at our school.
As an elementary school counselor, my role is to provide emotional, social, and academic support to help every student succeed. I work with students, teachers, and families to ensure that all children are supported in their development and well-being.
Individual Counseling
I provide a safe and confidential space for students to talk about their feelings and challenges. Whether a student is feeling anxious about school, struggling with friendships, or dealing with personal issues, I’m here to listen and provide guidance. My goal is to help students develop problem-solving skills, improve their emotional regulation, and feel more confident.
Group Counseling
I offer small group sessions where students can work together with peers who are facing similar challenges. These groups provide a supportive environment to learn new skills, share experiences, and practice social-emotional strategies. Topics can include friendship skills, conflict resolution, anger management, and building self-confidence.
Classroom Guidance Lessons
I visit classrooms to teach important life skills through interactive lessons. These lessons are designed to promote social-emotional development, improve academic skills, and build positive relationships. Topics include:
Social skills and friendship-building
Managing emotions (e.g., handling anger, calming down)
Problem-solving and decision-making
Growth mindset and goal-setting
Bullying prevention and kindness
Support for Academic Success
I collaborate with teachers and parents to help students thrive academically. If a student is struggling in class, I can offer strategies for focusing, staying organized, and managing schoolwork. I also help students set academic goals and celebrate their progress. Working together with teachers, I ensure that each child receives the support they need to succeed in the classroom.
Peer Mediation
I teach students how to resolve conflicts peacefully and fairly. Peer mediation helps students learn to listen to each other, understand different perspectives, and come up with solutions that work for everyone. This promotes a positive school environment and encourages students to take responsibility for their actions.
Parent and Teacher Collaboration
I work closely with parents and teachers to ensure that we’re meeting each student’s needs. I provide resources, share strategies for supporting students at home, and offer guidance on how to address behavioral or emotional concerns. Together, we create a strong network of support for each child.
How Can Students Access Counseling Services?
Self-Referral: Students can ask to meet with me whenever they feel the need. They can come to my office during recess or class (with permission).
Parent Referral: Parents are welcome to reach out to me directly if they have concerns about their child’s emotional well-being or behavior.
Teacher Referral: Teachers may refer students to me if they notice a child is struggling or in need of extra support.
Why Is Counseling Important?
School counselors play an important role in supporting the overall development of children. In addition to helping with emotional and social issues, I work to:
Promote a positive school climate where students feel safe, respected, and valued.
Foster skills that help children make responsible decisions, manage their emotions, and build healthy relationships.
Address any barriers that may prevent students from achieving academic success.
