We can be found in R15AA - F, in the Rose building on the Ground floor, where it joins the Mountbatten building
What hours do you work?
Between us we are in college daily 8.00am-4.30pm

Are counselling, mental health practitioner and nurse appointments confidential?
All counselling, mental health practitioner and nurse consultations are confidential unless there are safeguarding concerns ie. if there are concerns you are at risk of harming yourself, or of harming other people. If this was the case, it would usually be discussed with you prior to sharing any information. Any information is handled sensitively at all times
What happens if I urgently need some support?
If you have an urgent query please come and find us in R15AA to F, or speak to your Student Progress Adviser or the Safeguarding team in the Student Progress Zone
What do I do if I feel ill or am injured and need assistance?
Come to R15D to see the College Nurse or ask Reception staff to radio the nurse or a first aider
How do I update my medical records?
Go to your medical page on Focus. If you have no medical history you still need to confirm this by selecting NO MEDICAL CONDITION, from the dropdown menu, and then "Save". If you do have medical conditions, please make sure you provide additional information in the relevant boxes, including any prescribed medicines. Please check your information has saved correctly by re-loading the page once completed. Always update this page if you have any significant illnesses or injuries. It is essential for your safety
What do I do if I find it difficult to exit college buildings due to reduced mobility, visual or hearing impairment, mental health reasons or any other concerns?
Please see the college nurse to arrange a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP)
What can I do if I'm worried about a friend?
Please come and find us in the Health and Wellbeing dept, or speak to your teacher, tutor, student progress adviser or the safeguarding team. You can also press the "red button" on the myBarton homepage
Can I get Paracetamol or any other medicines in college?
No. If you require medicine you should bring in a small supply (sufficient for one day). You are responsible for keeping any medicine safe unless they are "controlled drugs" which would require prior arrangement with the college nurse
Can I keep medicines in college?
If you wish to store regular, essential medication at college please discuss with the college nurse. A drug cupboard and medical fridge are available if required
Can I get sexual health advice in college?

Where can I go if I just want a quiet place to sit?
You can come and sit in the Wellbeing hub, R15C, or you are welcome to sit in the Library where there are comfy chairs amongst the books!
What is a Student Wellbeing Mentor?
Student Wellbeing Mentors are students who have undergone training and are available to meet other students for a chat about a variety of issues including family, college and relationships.
Is there any support for Young Carers and Care Leavers in college?
Yes. Please discuss with your Student Progress Adviser or the College Nurse
