Our animal lives in a spacious wide ice cave in the polar regions. It has long and short icicles hanging from the ceiling dripping water drops every second. There are translucent blue and green rocks that seem to glow when the light hits them. There's a small stream that flows through the middle of the cave that has Nitric-lumen (a fish) that lives in the stream. There are layers of snow piled on the floor scattered everywhere.
My design was based of a wolf, i added a bit of aquatic features like the dorsal fin. it has a lot of fur on its body so it keeps warm in the cold harsh conditions. The dorsal fin helps it with stabilizing swimming and helps it swim straight. It has a very slim body so it will be able to fit through small passage ways to escape from predators. They also has a lot of fur on their body so they will be warm in the cold conditions. The feathers prevent it from scaring and getting hurt in certain body places. It has semi round pointy ears so hearing is relatively easy and sensitive. It has two fluffy tails, its fluffy so it keeps warm and paws can rest on them when lying down. The animal have two tails because when it catches prey it can strangle them up and hunt them, Its not the easiest way of hunting so they usually use their toxic tongue and saliva. They use their toxic tongue and saliva to mainly stun their prey, not to kill them. Their paws are webbed and their claws are relatively sharp. They use it for ripping off fur and flesh when they hunt.
I took various ideas from my original idea. Such as the tail, toxin in the saliva, the spiky dorsal fin and the normal dorsal fin, the mane and many eyes. I added webbed parts on the feet and made it slightly plumper to make it not look as malnourished. I added scales to look the aquatic part, although they are used for protection and locomotion. The spiky dorsal fin assists in self defence.
My design was based on a wolf, I took in other adaptations from aquatic animals, such as thresher sharks and ducks. It has a toxin in its saliva that makes stunning prey relatively easy. It has two dorsal fins, they assist with swimming, providing stability. The tail fin is the driving force while they swim, allowing them to get up to speeds of 74Km\h in the water. Their claws are purposely large and sharp, as their paw pads don't have papillae, they use their claws to dig into the ice to keep stability. Their spiky patterned underbelly keeps them hidden from prey and predators, merging into their surroundings. They have many eyes, for when they are grazing they will always be alert for predators stalking them. Their slender and thin body has a purpose, allowing them to enter and exit through narrow passageways through ice. Their body is littered with feathers, protecting their bodies from scarring and bruising in vulnerable places.
unfortunately Mea wasn't able to get a design because she wasn't here. ):
This is our research and note taking evidence.
The Celeste is a large animal with an outstanding height of 6 foot rounded (182.88cm). Its body is narrow, close to the point of being considered malnourished. Their claws are long and sturdy on purpose, allowing them to dig deep into ice and stabilize themselves, their body is scaly yet thickly furred around the head and neck. Their teeth were long and sharp. Their saliva has a toxin in it that is a lime green, intimidating predators to make them seem deadly, although the poison is made to only stun prey momentarily. Their tail is long and proves to be skillful in the water, setting their highest speeds to 74km. The scales are used for protection and locomotion, their large paws assist them in moving faster and for longer.
Classification.
The Celeste is a marine fissiped. The scientific name for the animal is LEPTIPOLYOPS, meaning ‘lightweight many eyes’. The Celeste is also an vertebrae(which has backbones). It can be found in the polar regions and in ice caves alone, Which means that they are independent.
Physical Characteristics.
The Celeste is a very large animal. It can grow up to about 182cm (6ish feet) which could be frightening close up. The Celeste has an incredibly thin body with shades of blue and back fur on the face, front of the neck and the chest. The thick fluffy fur keeps it warm in the cold harsh conditions. It has large furry pointy ears, it's furry so the ears will be warm, but it’s not that furry that they won't be able to hear well. The Celeste's ears are very sensitive due to the large ears. The Celeste also have many eyes, the reason why they do is because it helps them see a wider, better view in case of a predator attack. The Celeste also has very long eyelashes, they have long eyelashes because it prevents them from getting snow or dust etc in its eyes and helps it not block their view. They also have a very large mouth with 2 k9s on the top side of their teeth. They also have very strong teeth for ripping/tearing fur and flesh off of prey. The Celeste has a very long snout to be able to smell further and better for prey or predators. They also have a dorsal fin, the dorsal fin helps to stabilize the animal against rolling and to assist in sudden turns underwater while swimming. It also has something called a spiny dorsal fin, it's mainly used for a defense mechanism. The Celeste has toxin in its saliva and tongue, which makes it easier to stun prey when hunting. They also have large paws so they can trek further without having to stop occasionally. Lastly they have a long scaly tail to help them glide and swim through the water smoothly.
Habitat.
On planet X Celeste lives in a spacious ice cave. It has a little river that runs through the middle of the cave that lasts very long. In the waters there is a fish that Celeste eats, it's called nitric lumen. It has big and small icicles hanging from the ceiling of the ice caves and thick snow that fills the ground. You can hear the noise of ice cold water dripping from the ceiling, and maybe some predators too….
Behavioural Characteristics.
The Celeste spends most of their time in the cave because of predators. The Celeste hunts for arctic hare like creatures called starlette, arctic fox like animal named velvette, nitric lumen (a fish), and krill-like creatures called namilate. The blue and white on the fur and scales help the Celeste camouflage into the surroundings The Celeste is a independent animal and they will only find a mate during mating season. The will take care of the baby until it grows till an adult (1-2 years), then will let the child go on its own.
Interesting facts.
The Celeste is a scavenger which means it has predators. Celeste sleeps at night and hunts during the morning. The Celeste doesn’t always just stay in the ice caves from time to time it looks and treks through the polar regions. The life span of the Celeste is about 50-80 years which might seem a long time but to them it's quite short. Lastly the Celeste is a carnivore (meat eaters) because there are no plants in the ice regions.
