The habitat of the Jamboree has pink bioluminescent mushrooms. The pine trees are tall and have a layer of snow atop its branches. There is a small frozen pond that provides the Jamboree with water. The mountains are home to many creatures as well as the forest the Jamboree calls home.
This is Annabelle's first ideas for our creature. We were going to do a creature that lived in the water and had a bio-luminescent platypus tail, flying squirrel wings and heaps of rows of teeth like a shark but when we put it into the AI image generator we realized it looked more like a land creature so we decided to change everything and make it completely different ending up making the Jamboree.
This is Zoe's planning of our original creature. First we wanted to make something that lived in the water so I had made this creature that was like a mix of different animals off earth. It had a bio-luminescent. But we ended up doing the jamboree.
This is Emily's idea for our creature. It also has planning from our old creature which lived in the water and has a bio-luminescent tail. We ended up changing it as it was best fit for land and water like a beaver then we wanted to create something completely different so we ending up with the Jamboree.
We had a few different ideas, we had originally decided to make a creature that lived in the ocean. Then we decided to make it live in the tundra and make a new creature using the adaptations we liked from our old creature.
This is our final sketch. It shows the extra fur around the neck the pink nose, inside of ears and big tail along with the whiskers and huge paws.
This is what we all agreed on. We had multiple different ideas and the AI made lots of unique images but we ended up picking this one, because we liked how it has big ears, huge claws and a ginormous tail which is exactly what we were looking for.
As you can see the Jamboree is an apex predator meaning nothing eats it, but it eats everything. This helps it survive.
This creature has two main attacks, the claw slash and the tail strangle. This helps it kill its prey.
The Jamboree
[Intro]
The scientific name for the Jamboree is the Magnus periculo cattus which means great giant cat. It is a carnivore so it has a diet of meat. They are solitary and only meet with another Jamboree during mating season in the summer.
[Description]
The Jamboree is the size of a female gorilla. It has large ears that can rotate 180 degrees. They have folds which help direct the sound of prey and creatures in their environment. Its long whiskers help it know if it can squeeze into small spaces. The Jamboree has a long fluffy tail which helps provides balance and it can also wrap it around themselves to keep warm. The paws are bigger than its head and have massive claws that allow it to climb through the trees. Its fur is thicker around its neck, ankles and paws as they are the most sensitive and its paws are in constant contact with freezing branches of ice, snow and frost. The Jamboree's eyes can see perfectly in the dark as it is most active at night. The pink nose has a tendency to freeze in the cold weather. They are very athletic and can run at a fastest speed of 100 kph and it can hold that speed for 15 minutes, approximately.
[Habitat]
The Jamboree lives at the edge of a tundra area where it has escaped the permafrost, it's more like a snowy jungle than anything. The Jamboree lives within the trees making huts out of leaves, sticks and fur from its prey. It is extremely territorial once it finds a home it doesn't stray too far from it. The branches have a thin layer of ice that the claws of a Jamboree can easily break through. Snow falls from the branches onto the innocent alien creatures that the Jamboree hunts. Its hut provides shelter and a safe place to sleep to avoid the frost and snow. They also store their prey in a hole to save for winter.
[Diet]
Jamborees feast on alien birds and other creatures that are far larger than ones on earth. Their favourite food is the polar rays which are the size of a piece of A0 paper and have enough meat to last 3 days. They go hunting every night but usually only come back with prey every other night. The animals they catch are large so it can last and they have adapted to be great at camouflage. They are fierce hunters and are carnivore so they eat meat. In the warmer months they can catch more food and since it is so cold they freeze so the Jamboree has a food supply for winter. It licks ice off tree branches and leaves to get water and only comes down from the trees if it needs water which it can get from the frozen lakes nearby. The Jamboree does not struggle in the winter months like most creatures due the built-in freezer.
[Behaviour and Adaptation]
Jamboree use their strong paws to climb trees and jump from branch to branch. The tail provides balance and the ears are useful for hearing in all directions the thick layer of fur keeps it warm in the freezing temperatures. Its fastest speed is 100 kph for around 15 min max. It has lungs to breathe which are incredibly strong as it is always exerting itself. It could not survive in cold environments and is sensitive to the warm weather. If the summer got any warmer for them it would be incredibly hard for the Jamboree to survive. It takes 2 years for the Jamboree to reach full size and lives for about 8-10 years on average. They only meet up for mating season for 2 weeks and then the males leave. They stay with the same mate for their whole life. There are about 5-8 kittens in a litter. The mother looks after them for two years and then sends them out into the wild. They are lucky that they can eat meat and don't have to rely on plants to grow.
[Conclusion]
The Jamboree is definitely a unique animal and could not survive on earth and need to live in the place they do. The environment is very hard to recreate. They would end up taking over the food chain on earth. The Jamboree's diet is very dependent on the creatures in its environment. It has some unique adaptations as well.
