The Venator is an animal that lives on Planet X. The scientific name is apicem venator. It is a reptile with white fur that blends into snow.

                               Adaptations

The Venator's body shape is like a lizard and can grow up to a two long Their body is covered with white fur to blend into surroundings . It has sharp spikes on the end of its tail that it uses to destroy its  prey. The Venator also has razor sharp teeth to rip its prey's flesh. It has two grey eyes that can see all around itself. The head is  shaped like a crocodile. they have thick scaly legs that are short so they can stay close to the ground and have 4 sharp claws on each paw. The Venator has small ears to prevent heat loss. The Venator can be silent and lie low to hide from prey. They have a thick layer of fat to keep warm.  

                                 Habitat

The Venator  lives at the south pole of Planet X. There are massive mountain ranges and small plants scattered across the tundra-like region. The snow is on average five metres deep. There are plenty of other animals to feed on.

To hunt for prey, the Venator lies low and sneaks up on prey. Then it swipes at it with its tail or slashes it with its claws. The prey dies and the Venator eats the prey with its mouth. Young Venators play fight with their fathers to practice hunting.

                                   Life Cycle

An average Venator lives for fifty years. They hatch from eggs three months after the parents mated. The female Venator protects the egg while the male hunts for food. Once the egg hatches the baby Venator is taken care of by the parents for just four years. Then the Venator is fully grown and left by itself. It finds a mate a few years later. Then the cycle starts again. Only one Venator is born at a time but once the parents send away a baby they mate again. 

                         Closing Comment

The Venators thrive on Planet X. Their population is around 90 million.  But they heavily depend on other animals to survive. The Venators are truly fascinating  creatures.
