After learning about watercolor painting techniques and the properties of color, students were asked to explore their relationship with local flora and/or fauna through the creation of a mixed media watercolor collage. They had to include both abstract and figurative imagery, using Kenyan American artist Wangechi Mutu’s artwork as inspiration.
