MYP2 General Course Description Teacher: Marina Velázquez
This unit focused on exploring the imaginative and expressive world of Surrealism, using Alice's Adventures in Wonderland as a springboard into the exploration of dreamlike imagery, unexpected juxtapositions, and imaginative visual storytelling. Students examined how artists create surreal compositions and developed their own artwork inspired by the themes, characters, and settings of the classic story. Furthermore, students investigated the innovative practice of found object sculpture. They learned how ordinary, discarded materials can be transformed into meaningful works of art. Throughout the course, students developed their skills in observation, interpretation, and creative problem-solving while deepening their understanding of how artists communicate ideas in imaginative and thought-provoking ways.
