About Assabet Valley Collaborative


Assabet Valley Collaborative is a non-profit educational entity, comprised of 15 school districts, was established in 1976. Through collaboration in joint activities, the Collaborative obtains and provides high quality, cost-effective services. The Collaborative is governed by the Board of Directors, which is comprised of all the Superintendents of the member school districts.


The mission of Assabet Valley Collaborative is to partner with students, families and member school districts to deliver highly specialized expertise and resources to foster empowerment to all learners.

The Collaborative is an education service agency with the goal of providing support to our districts in meeting the following needs:

  • Low-incidence special education programming
  • Special needs transportation for students ages 3 through 22
  • Professional Development
  • Resource sharing
  • Community-based social services
  • Cooperative purchasing
  • Job-Alikes and project coordination for member district staff
  • Contract and consultation services including;
  • Speech / language and communication therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Physical therapy
  • Music therapy
  • Assistive Technology
  • Mental health
  • Vocational consultation
