St. Albans teaches us what a relatively untouched archaeological resource looks like, with the town of Verulamium being located largely in a modern park (mostly beneath it). Excavations have occurred in the past, and much of the material is curated in a museum that displays the everyday life of the people of Verulamium. A well-preserved amphitheatre is located here as well. The St. Albans Cathedral (largely built from stones recycled from the Roman town) is a place for reflection on more recent cultural aspects of Britain.
