ADOBE CREATIVE CLOUD (acc employees)

This tutorial is for ACC Employees & TAs only. A student tutorial can be found here.

All actively employed Faculty, Staff, and TAs are given a free ongoing license to the ENTIRE Adobe Creative Cloud suite (valued at $600/yr). If you're a TA, you may not have realized that you have an employee account as well, with an @austincc.edu extension instead of your student account that has the standard @g.austincc.edu extension. You'll need to use the employee account to activate your free Adobe CC license. (All employee accounts ending with @austincc.edu also have unlimited Google Drive space. Student accounts ending with @g.austincc.edu have 25GB of drive space, and standard google accounts have 15GB of drive space.)

ACTIVATING AN EMPLOYEE LICENSE (FREE)

  • Go to ACC Gmail

  • Login with your employee @austincc.edu account (NOT your @g.austincc.edu student account if you're a TA)

    • If you're a TA and don't know your austincc.edu account username, enter the same username as your student account.

    • After you enter your @austincc.edu email and press enter, you'll be rerouted to an ACC login page to enter your eid and password.

    • Once completed, you'll be logged into your @austincc.edu employee account.

  • Now go to austincc.edu/adobe and click the "GET ADOBE CREATIVE CLOUD" button.

  • Click the "Adobe Creative Cloud Subscription" Image / Icon

  • You may be taken to a screen offering Adobe CC for a fee. If so, click the "Are You Eligible?" link.

  • On the new page that opens, click the first option "Adobe Creative Cloud ETLA - Subscription" that has NO EXPIRATION DATE.

  • The next page should have CC listed as free. Click add to cart and checkout.

  • Give the page a moment to load and it will finish by saying your account is now active. Click the Install button to download CC and select your software (campus systems have software pre-installed). Once you open any CC program, login with your ACC account and you should now have access to CC!

  • Notes: Your CC subscription will remain ongoing/free for each semester you are actively employed as Faculty or a TA. If there's a lapse in your employee status, you'll need to reactivate it the next time you're active.

Additionally, if you're a TA and do not TA for a semester, you'll be required to purchase the $10 RTF student license if you're enrolled in an RTF class or will be eligible for a $50 ACC student license if you're enrolled in non-RTF classes. Both student licenses only last the duration of the semester, and accordingly, student licenses purchased over the summer do not roll over into the fall despite being listed as active until January. The summer semester is considered its own semester, and student licenses are deactivated at the end of each semester.

  • Turn off Auto-Updates: Adobe Software will not allow you to open a project, if the project was originally saved in a newer version of the software. Therefore, if you update your version of Adobe software at home, then try to open your project in an older version on campus, you will receive an error message. Campus edit labs are updated once per semester, at the start of the semester. To prevent issues, it's advised that you turn off automatic updates after installing/updating the software at the start of the semester as well.

      • To turn off automatic updates: Open the "Adobe Creative Cloud" program > Login to your account > Select the "General" tab on the left > Deselect "Always keep Creative Cloud up to date"

  • Logging out of CC in labs: In order to use the CC software in the RTF campus labs, you'll be prompted to login to your personal CC account when you launch the software (if not prompted, you're logged into someone else's account). In doing so, Adobe remembers the preferences and presets you choose, then syncs them with your account wherever you may login. For this reason, it's very important to log OUT of your CC before you leave each class (logging out of the Mac will not log you out of CC).

      • To log out of CC: On the campus IMac, click the Creative Cloud icon (pictured above) at the top right of the menu bar > The "Adobe Creative Cloud" program will open. Click your avatar at the top right > Select Sign Out

  • Adobe Express (presentation, web, and graphic design software) is free for all ACC students and employees with their ACC email. A creative cloud license is not required to access the software in their web browser.
