Adobe Creative Cloud
Because of ACC's partnership with Adobe, ACC students have discounted access to Adobe CC with their ACC email. Students enrolled in an RTF course are eligible to purchase the entire CC suite (valued at $600/yr) for $10 each semester (Fall, Spring, or Summer) or $50 a semester if they're enrolled at ACC but not taking an RTF course. Your CC subscription will only remain active in the semester you purchased it, and will be deactivated at the end of each semester. Accordingly, you'll have to repurchase a license the following semester (ex: Licenses purchased over the Summer will have to be repurchased in the Fall, despite the listed expiration date.)
ACTIVATING A STUDENT LICENSE ($10)
Go to austincc.edu/adobe and click the "GET ADOBE CREATIVE CLOUD" button.
Login with your student @g.austincc.edu account
Click the "Adobe Creative Cloud Subscription" Image / Icon
On the following page, click the "Are You Eligible?" link.
On this page, you'll see a list of purchase options available to you. If you're in an RTF class you are eligible for the $10 rate, and it should show up as an option for you. If you're NOT enrolled in an RTF course, you'll still be eligible for the $50 license as an enrolled ACC student.
If, for any reason, you're enrolled in an RTF course and are not offered a $10 purchase option, DO NOT purchase a general $50 ACC license - reach out to your instructor first. Your instructor should submit an RTF support ticket with your student e-mail & ID# included, to have the issue tracked and resolved. If you purchased the $50 general license, you will have to reach out directly to OnTheHub/Kivuto (1-866-435-4722) with your order number & email, to have the Adobe billing refunded.
Select the option that's available for you ($10 RTF license or $50 ACC license), click add to cart, and checkout.
Give the page a moment to load and it will finish by saying your account is now active. Click the Install button to download CC and select your software (campus systems have software pre-installed). Once you open any CC program, login with your ACC account and you should now have access to Creative Cloud for the semester!
Notes: Your discounted license is only active for the duration of the semester, and must be renewed the following semester AFTER the current license has expired. Example: The fall license typically lasts through Jan 31st of the following year. This means returning students will have to wait until Feb 1 to purchase a Spring license. If they attempt to renew during their current license, they will be met with an error to prevent students from purchasing twice and overpaying.
Turn off Auto-Updates: Adobe Software will not allow you to open a project, if the project was originally saved in a newer version of the software. Therefore, if you update your version of Adobe software at home, then try to open your project in an older version on campus, you will receive an error message. Campus edit labs are updated once per semester, at the start of the semester. To prevent issues, it's advised that you turn off automatic updates after installing/updating the software at the start of the semester as well.
To turn off automatic updates: Open the "Adobe Creative Cloud" program > Login to your account > Select the "General" tab on the left > Deselect "Always keep Creative Cloud up to date"
See the tutorial button below to install an older version of CC software, that coincides with the RTF Lab versions.
Logging out of CC in labs: In order to use the CC software in the RTF campus labs, you'll be prompted to login to your personal CC account when you launch the software (if not prompted, you're logged into someone else's account). In doing so, Adobe remembers the preferences and presets you choose, then syncs them with your account wherever you may login. For this reason, it's very important to log OUT of your CC before you leave each class (logging out of the Mac will not log you out of CC).
To log out of CC: On the campus IMac, click the Creative Cloud icon (pictured above) at the top right of the menu bar > The "Adobe Creative Cloud" program will open. Click your avatar at the top right > Select Sign Out
Adobe Express (presentation, web, and graphic design software) is free for all ACC students and employees with their ACC email. A creative cloud license is not required to access the software in their web browser.
