Adobe Creative Cloud allows you to open the same project or session file across multiple systems, PC or Mac. This allows students to open their projects on both home and campus computers, IF both systems are running the same software version.
If the two systems are running different software versions, this will be an issue. When a student saves a project in a newer version of software, and moves it to a computer with an older version, the project will not open.
Example: If you saved a Premiere .proj in version 23.6 at home, then brought it to the campus media labs running an older version, you will not be able to open the project.
The following tutorial will show you how to check which version of CC software you have installed, and how to install older versions based on the current software versions in the RTF media labs.
Open your Premiere pro Project. Under "Help" choose "About Premiere Pro" from the dropdown. (NOTE: On a Mac, this will be under "Premiere Pro")
A Pop up should come up with a bunch of info about Premiere. Make sure that at the top, under "Premiere Pro", it says "Version 23.1 "
Also, when you first open Premiere, the correct splash image should be this:
Note: To identify the software version currently installed in the RTF media labs, check the RTF Labs page.
Open up Adobe Creative Cloud app, click on your profile icon in the top right, and choose "Preferences" from the drop down.
Within the preferences window, choose "Apps" on the right.
WIthin this window, make sure "Auto-update" is turned off and "Show Older Apps" is turned on.
In the top right, click on "All Apps"
Next There will be three dots to the right of Adobe Premiere Pro. Click on them:
From the drop down menu, choose "Other Versions:
From the available options, choose the software that coincides with what is currently installed in the RTF Labs, and click "Install"
