About Lorraine Tom
Lorraine Tom was an educator dedicated to serving her students and her community. She was the librarian at San Gabriel High School for over 40 years.
For many years she was also a board member of the Alhambra Educational Foundation.
She retired in 2024.
About the Scholarship
The Lorraine Tom Memorial Scholarship is awarded in her honor to a San Gabriel High School senior who feels that the library and reading are an important part of their life. Students who plan to attend a Community College, Trade School, or University in the fall and who have a GPA of at least 3.0 are encouraged to apply.

Students who wish the apply for this scholarship must complete the form below. The entries will be reviewed by a committee made up of the three librarians of the Alhambra Unified School District. The winner will be selected by this committee and the award will be given at Senior Awards Night on May 26, 2026.
Deadline & Award
The deadline for applications is Friday, May 15, 2026 at 2:00pm.
The award amount is TBD depending on donations, but will be no less than $300.
The scholarship recipient will also recieve a Kindle Fire HD 8.
