Art 1

Banner design by Justin Qian

Art I provides instruction in two and three-dimensional art forms. Students will be given the opportunity to develop their skills in drawing, painting, collage, printmaking and in 3-dimensional projects. Through exposure to various artists and cultures, students gain a perspective about their art experience. Designing artworks will be investigated through problem solving activities such as manipulating paper straws in a textured collage or making a composite mask design. This yearlong, UC approved course accommodates beginning art students and promises to be challenging to the most experienced. It prepares students for advanced art classes by promoting different approaches to drawing and presenting a wide variety of materials with an emphasis on creativity.

And if a lack of drawing experience is holding you back, don't worry. There's no better time to learn like the present. You can do it! Just go for it!
