Banner design by Jason He

Drawing and painting techniques will be explored with a primary goal to achieve the illusion of three-dimensional form on a two-dimensional surface. This yearlong UC approved course will emphasize composition, technique, and creativity. Students will work with a variety of media including, but not limited to, pencil, ink, charcoal, pastel, colored pencil, watercolor, and acrylic. Historical and contemporary artists will be studied according to individual student interest. This course prepares students for Art Honors by giving students greater freedom to compose imagery, to explore individual style, and to investigate more complex visual concepts. Student have the opportunity to draw and paint on large scale projects such as chalk drawings on pavement and stage set painting.
