Now if you didn't know, womanism isn't something that has always been around. The beginning stages of women's rights and more started with Feminism. Feminism is defined as the advocacy of women right's through the equality of the sexes. This seems to cover everything, right? Well, not exactly....
The first wave of feminism started in the late 19th century and was mostly focused on cisgender, upper-middle class, white women and the right to vote. It's not a bad place to start, however there were still elements in the battle for rights that were still lacking.
The second and third waves of feminism came around adding an additional point to is, however there was still something missing. Two elements- inclusion of people with different backgrounds and how their struggle may be different from the majority.
