About Level 3

MLL 301/302 is a sheltered English Language Arts course designed to address the specific English Language Development (ELD) needs of students in the intermediate- low advanced stages of English language proficiency (ELP).


From the course catalog: This course is for students who have more advanced English skills. Students will continue to work on pronunciation and comprehension skills; and work on vocabulary and grammar development. Students will read literature, and write in a variety of formats.


This document describes the scope and sequence of English Language Arts content topics taught in this course, including a transitional unit for Quarter 1, a placement assessment in Quarter 3 and common assessments in each quarter. In addition, this document provides guidance on the language forms and convention, vocabulary usage and linguistic complexity that should be covered in this course. 

Grading:

Grades are based on the following weighted categories:

A 92.5 – 100% C+ 77.5 – 79.9%

A- 90 – 92.4% C 72.5 – 77.4%

B+ 87.5 – 89.9% C- 70 – 72.4%

B 82.5 – 87.4% D+ 67.5 – 69.9%

B- 80 – 82.4% D 60 – 67.4%

C+        77.5 – 79.9%

C          72.5 – 77.4%

C-        70 – 72.4%

D+       67.5 – 69.9%

D         60 – 67.4%
