Beanstack / Race 2 Read How to Guides
Beanstack is part of MyBackpack and you can find it near the top of your icons . It is an app APS has used for the last three years. Students and staff can log their own reading, and staff can log minutes for their students.
Student username is: their student log-in Student password is: race2read or Race2Read
Staff user name is: their log-in Staff password is: beanstackreads

How to Use the Beanstack App for Race 2 Read Minutes
Download the Beanstack tracker to your Apple or Android Phone.
Open the app - Select the Yup! Button
Select the Find a Site button - enter your high school: North Atlanta High School
Enter your login information as you would in MyBackpack. Username is APS login. Password for students is: Race2Read

Five buttons on bottom of screen: Home, Log, +, Discover, Account
Home button provides current day reading streak, number of minutes read, Pages read, books read, reading sessions.
It also can provide detailed statistics of your reading.
Towards bottom you will see the recent titles you have read/ logged.
The current challenges for which you are enrolled are also shown.
Badges you have earned are listed as well as activities completed and reviews written.
Log Button
Shows the list of books you have recently read, completed books, badges and reviews. Provides dates you have earned each badge and when you wrote reviews.
This is the button you will use the most - +.
Here you will log your reading, complete an activity or write your review.
This app provides four methods to log your reading. You will first need to add the book to your log before you can track your minutes with the app. Use one of the four ways.
Scan ISBN - this is on the back of printed books. It consists of 14 numbers and a barcode. When you select Scan ISBN a camera shows and you take a picture of the ISBN and the title will show up.
Search for a Title - You enter the ISBN, exact title of the book or author if known. Then make a selection of the item for your book.
Manually Enter TItle Info - This option should be used for e-books if you wish to track your minutes as you read.
Enter the Title and author
Select the blank page at top and it provides an option to take a picture of the cover of the ebook on your screen.
After you take the picture you select the ✓ to save the pic.
Log a Day, Minutes or Pages Only
Use this option for class required reading, or if you finish something in one day.
This option does not ask for a title or an author. Minutes are added to your log, but the minutes are not identified as a book - just minutes.
The reading will show up as No Title in your log.
To track your minutes
Go to App
Select Log
Select the item you wish to track. This is done after you have added the book/ item to your log. If it is not already added - Complete step 8.
Select Log Reading
Select Start Reading Session - the timer begins.
You can pause at any time in your reading.
When you are ready to start again - select read.
When you are done reading for the day. You may enter the number of pages you read. You will be asked, “Did you finish reading the book?” Make your selection.
When your minutes have been logged, you will see a green box with a message such as: Booyah you’ve logged minutes or You’ve earned a Badge!
To complete an Activity
Go to + symbol and select Activities
Follow the directions on the screen as each activity is unique in its requirements.
To complete a Review
Choose - Scan ISBN, Search for a Title or Manually Enter Title Info
When you Search for a Title - it pulls up your log and allows you to choose from your logged books.
Select your book then the Write Review button
Type your item review. Select Post.
