Microsoft will end the 1 TB free storage allocation per user for educational institutions by April 30, 2026. Instead, storage will be pooled, with a 100 TB cap for the entire university. Any usage beyond that cap will incur charges.
This change was first shared by Microsoft in their official announcement.

We are currently not affected by this change.
Ateneo is under a 3-year Microsoft 365 contract until April 2026, which still includes:
1 TB of free cloud storage per user for students, faculty, and staff.
The policy change and 1 GB limit will take effect after the contract ends in 2026.

All OneDrive accounts will be capped at 1 GB per user unless additional storage is purchased.

To better manage cloud storage needs, Ateneo is recommending a campus-wide shift to Google Drive as the primary platform for file storage and sharing.
