Praying with St. Ignatius of Loyola
St. Ignatius Loyola encouraged people to develop an intimate relationship with God. Through 'Ignatian prayer' inspired by his Spiritual Exercises, St. Ignatius continues to teach us today how to be more mindful and encounter God's loving presence in our daily life.
Today, we invite you to take a moment to have a 'sacred space' for rest, quiet, and to find time to connect with God in prayer using some methods inspired and taught by St. Ignatius of Loyola.
To prepare for prayer, take a few moments first to get connected with your heart, mind and body.
Notice what is going on inside your head.
Notice what is going on inside your heart.
Notice what is going on inside your body.
As you get connected to what's in your mind and heart, how you are feeling inside and in your body - remember, as you begin your prayer, that God loves and accepts you as you are. Imagine God, looking at you with much love and understanding as you begin your prayer:
Make the sign of the cross:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
