I find a place where I can spend some uninterrupted time.
I take a few deep, slow breaths as I quiet my mind and calm my body.
I gently relax into an awareness of God’s presence
as I imagine Him welcoming me into this sacred and special time.
I take a few moments to think back over the week that has just passed and recall what my plans for the week were.
I remember one or two things that surprised me this week.
Perhaps things or gestures that caught me off-guard and brought a smile to my lips.
I focus on the unexpected gifts I received throughout the week in the work that I did and the people I interacted with.
I focus on those moments, savoring them as I whisper a silent thank you to God.
I place myself in those moments again and replay them in my mind as I ask for the grace to see these events through God’s eyes. I turn my mind to the smaller things remembering that: God is in the details.
I notice the moments and experiences of the week that I felt fully alive, at peace, joyful, happy or my best self.
I now remember the moments for which I am less grateful; experiences that made me feel drained of energy, frustrated, sad or alone.
I bring all of these moments and experiences before God as I express to Him my feelings about the week.
Trusting that God knows what I’ve been through, I allow my words of prayer to rise out spontaneously from my heart.
Before I bring my prayer to a close, I look forward to the next week with hope.
I ask God to give me life and his abundant grace to face tomorrow’s challenges.
I pay attention to feelings that surface as I look ahead to the following week.
I allow these feelings to turn into prayer as I ask God for the gifts I might particularly need for the following week.
I pause as I take this time to say a few more words to God.
I end with the hope that everything I do brings Glory to Father….
