Organizational strategies are needed to support and professionals’ wellbeing. This benefits technology users and society as a whole by enhancing the effectiveness of Trust & Safety work. 

Companies should:

1. Embrace T&S as a priority area and allocate appropriate resources.

2. Recalibrate the scope of T&S job roles to better match the emergent nature of the work as well as prevention through safety-by-design.

3. Provide support and create structures for cross-team collaboration and interdisciplinary teams.

4. Support professionals’ participation in industry-wide collaboration.

5. Be cautious of relying too much on automation as a magic bullet, in light of pitfalls of AI and the need for context.

Recommendations for Society, Policymakers, Civil Society, Researchers, and others

1. Stay engaged, and continue to call attention to problems.

2. Know that there are not simple solutions to the problems that Trust and Safety addresses.

3. Be cautious about embracing automation or a simple increase in Trust and Safety staffing as the only or best solutions.

4. Support emerging Trust and Safety directions.

1. Continue to build industry-wide collaboration.

2. Create and share continuing education and professional development opportunities. 

3. Clearly articulate what Trust and Safety is, its challenges, and its value.
